Labor Day Camping 2009: The Storm

It was adventurous because a storm blew threw on Sunday afternoon, bringing with it heavy rain, multiple lightening strikes, and rumbling thunder. The area where we camped was under a tornado warning. Before things got really bad the boys walked in the rain up to a picnic shelter, while Ruth and I hunkered down in the tent. One lightening strike hit just above our heads and we both screamed out of real fear, but kept the scream going because it sounded so silly. After the deluge, a moat surrounded the tent, and yet everything inside stayed dry.

Summer Ends: Labor Day Weekend Camping

our pristine campsite

Of our three trips (Memorial Day Weekend, Fourth of July Weekend, and Labor Day Weekend), this trip was both the most adventurous and laid back. For this trip we returned to Cheatham County, Tennessee on the banks of the Cumberland River.
