I invite you to watch “The First Person I Came Out To Was God” by Andrew Sullivan. It’s best at the end, so stick with it.
I regret being too afraid to have a coming out conversation with my dad. I remember that he hinted at having that conversation while he was in the hospital the week he died, but he didn’t push me when, out of fear, I responded with avoidance. We can only guess at his reaction had I overcome my fear and spoken with him openly.
Thank you Mom, thank you Sissy, for only ever showing me acceptance, support, and love in my own coming out. Thank you Sam, Ben, and Ruth for only ever being understanding. Thank you Frank, for being the rock that you are. I am grateful for God’s grace at work in my family!
