Doug, this is beautiful. May I share it with some others who are struggling with the same questions?

The music: Justin Timberlake and Timbaland with “Carry Out”. Got that album…
Loved your statements today. I have always said to many people in church and in other settings when this came up…God loves everyone. God is looking for people who have love, peace, goodness for others and mankind. I am glad you have been able to break the mold of what you once were and truly be yourself now. I loved you either way! But for you to be a person to lead the way of thinking differently is truly your calling.LikeLike

1) That was Justin Timberlake? I LIKE him. Why did I not know that song? I am getting old, that’s why.
2) You gon make me cry. All this talk about calling. I answered one call. Now I got another??
3) Well, of course I do. It’s just taken me so long to stop being scared of it.
Thank you for your affirmation, and for your willingness to speak out.

Of course that’s where you were going! And a beautiful example and expression of grace yourself.

Coming from the same background and therefore dealing with the same prejudices and narrow minded viewpoints, my heart breaks that you have had to deal with the denial and self-imposed shame of being gay. The life that I have always wanted for you is one that is free from pain, self doubt or persecution, an easy life. Hopefully, in the future the world in general will become more godly and more tolerant and blinded to people’s differences whether they be color, sexual preference, religion or politics. We are all God’s children and therefore gifted with His grace, so yes, you canhasgrace. I hope you know that I love you as you are, as I always have.

Now I really am gonna cry (again). But don’t let your heart be broken. Out of sadness comes unexpected joy. It’s one of the ways grace works, I think.

Well said Doug. It took me going to Belmont and taking a Disciple Bible Study, learning what the bible ‘really’ says to understand grace and then to actually accept it. Thank you for taking me to Belmont when I was so uncomfortable and would not have gone alone. Thank you for guiding me to keep spiritual traditions a part of our family. I love that our kids will always have that because two gay men won’t give up on it. Love.

ooooookay…you people either have to stop with comments that make me cry (please don’t stop : ) or I’ve got to stop reading comments in places where I shouldn’t melt into a puddle (that might be the best plan).
I love our family, and I love you, Lover.
