My parents and grandparents were the biggest influencers of my faith. I learned compassion from watching them. When I speak to older adult groups about aging and faith, I always remind them that they are still impacting others… even when they don’t know it. Someone is watching and learning.

And parent’s, too. Sometimes I worry about what my kids might be picking up from me that I’d rather they didn’t.

Mom told me she recently bought Living with Purpose in a Worn-Out Body

      Thanks for watching, Missy!

Why is your video so dark? Oh wait, is it really that dark when you leave for work? Ugh.

I give thanks for my grandmother Ethel and great-grandmother Mama Georgie. They had the biggest influence on my faith, besides my parents. Both women were amazing, strong, beautiful women of faith. Grandma lived beside me, so I spent a lot of my time with her. Mama Georgie didn’t live that far away, so I was able to spend quite a bit of time with her too, especially when I became old enough to drive. I think of them a lot, and I still miss them. I’m so grateful for their life of faith that they modeled for me.

My grandparents and my parents have led me through life with great example of how to live as a Christian.

I’m remembering Lois Benton who was a family and church friend throughout my growing-up years. (interesting note: her husband was dean of Vanderbilt Div School—”Benton Chapel” named for him) Lois worked for the Board of Higher Education. I always sensed her very grounded faith, and what made that extra special to me was that along with that she had a great sense of humor and did not think any question was out of bounds! Bless you, Saint Lois!
