After recovering from a Friday interview fail, I talk about the importance of accountability in forming new spiritual discipline habits.

    Excellent series. It shows you are following through with your Lenten practrice even if things don’t always go as planned. If anyone asks me about Lenten practices I may direct them to icanhasgrace commute cam. I don’t recall if you have ever talked about Sabbath but since being intentional about Sabbath time on Fridays I have experienced a lot of grace. Peace.

    Accountability is a main factor in my observance of Lent. I have chosen to abstain from alcohol during these 40 days, and I have made a point of telling several people — at random really — in my church community. When it gets to be 5:00 I can remind myself how I would feel if any of those people ask me how it’s going!
    Setting a goal is also helpful. I estimated how much money I would spend on wine in 40 days and chose how that money would be used. We have a church initiative to support J-FON and a Heifer project as well. It is humbling to know that my efforts will help these funds to grow.
    Accounting and goal-setting: still not easy, but so helpful!
